nanotechnology future CDs will store 200,000 DVDs on one disc

Scientists at the University of Swiburne working on a nanotechnology project intended to include a petabyte (PB) on a single disc, ie, increase 20,000 times its current capacity.
The project consists of expanding the capacity of current discs and store up to 20,000 times the amount of data on a Blu-ray high-density optical format. Funded

$ 1 million by the Australian Research Council, the project seeks to create the first generation of discs that use different techniques, the first of them expand the number of layers in which data can be stored. And, if you currently use a maximum of four layers, this research team is already experimenting with 52 layers and could reach the 200 or 300 layers.
